New to English 110.01?
If you plan to take English 110.01, then you are in the right place! Let me tell you something useful about this course. I am taking it this quarter and it's almost done. I didn't do a perfect job on papers which makes me so sad. But don't be afraid. As long as you try your best, you would definitely receive a great achievement.
Alright. Let's get started. Firstly, everyone knows that this course is designed to improve our writing skills so that the most common assignment is paper. Students would make progress by practicing. Practice makes perfect.
On the first day, we were told that our course topic is food and food ways which made us so happy. Nobody doesn't like eating! And we were assigned a first day assignment after class which let us to express our own thoughts about some general questions about English 110.01. And then we had our first blog homework. We generated our own blog website and wrote down our opinions about food and food ways. After that, we began to write academic research paper which could be the most difficult part in this course. To make a academic paper looks great, you must have a good topic that leads to different facets so that you can get enough material to write about. What's also important is that you should have ability to analyze your source in a good way. This is the first step and the most significant one to make a successful paper. In addition, you are supposed to find some convincing evidence to support your idea. Organize your paper well and make a strong conclusion.
Honestly, what I mentioned above is basically what you should notice while writing a academic paper. As long as you do your best, you won't be disappointed by your grade.
Best Regards,
Guenzhe Sun

Food and Me
I live in the Southeast of China. I love eating crab since I was a little boy. In China, there is a kind of crab called Yangcheng crab, which means the crab lives in Yangcheng river. This kind of crab is the most dilicious one according to my experience. They way to cook them is really simple, just put the crab into boiled water, and take them out when they are done. But the sauce for this dish is different in every restaraunt. But I love the way my grandma makes it. I really miss the crab and I think I will have some as soon as I arrived in China.

Rice dumpling ---- "Zongzi"
There are lots of kinds of zongzi in China. The shape of zongzi is various. Some of them are tetrahedral and some are cylindrical. The fillings also have lots of variations. For example, jujubes, pork, dried shrimp, chicken and mung beans. Wrapping a zongzi neatly is a difficult work. The skill is passed down through families. When I first wrapped a zongzi, I totally messed it up.Zongzi need to be steamed or boiled for several hours. And frozen zongzi could be easily found in Chinese markets. Every year, we eat zongzi not only because it is delicious but also because it represents our best wishes towards Qu Yuan.

My PSA Sources
First Possible Source
" BIGGEST BURGERS IN TOWN''. Those two posters above show us how big the "biggest burgers'' are. When I first looked at the pictures, I could not tell anything about them since I kept my eyes on their terrible enormous mouths at the very beginning. I could see nothing but huge mouths on their faces. They have no eyes and noses. I only can see four little ears beside their mouths. Obviously, the tittle shows the topic of the pictures which is burgers. But there's no burgers or anything else related to fast food in the pictures. I like the advertiser's idea of using no-burger posters to advertise burgers. And since the pictures look so weird and unusual, I believe that everyone passes by the posters would stop to take a look at them. It is what advertisements do. Big mouths versus big burgers, it is so interesting to me. Now I really can tell how big the "biggest burgers'' are.
Second Possible Source
Look at this picture! It's so amazing. I really like the creation of the brilliant ''football court''. It looks like a huge stadium. The stadium is made of chips, chocolate, chex mix, cheetos, cheese and twinkies. All of those materials are American style snacks. And lots of people eat them a lot since they are so delicious and we can buy them everywhere. American snacks turned in to a football stadium. Actually that's the point why I am interested in this picture so much. It is a work of art made by American food which also represents one of the most important feature in American culture --- football. I think I have a lot of space to discuss this picture.

My Favourite Dish
Food plays an extremely important role in our daily life. Food provides not only energy that we need for working and studying but also enjoyment for our taste. There are millions of dishes in the world, and food from different parts tastes so distinct from each other. As I experienced, Chinese food and American food are totally unlike. When people talk about United States, most people will have an image of hamburger in their mind. Thus fast-food may be the biggest character in American style food. On the contrast, Chinese food doesn’t like fast-food. Most of Chinese food takes a lot of time to prepare. Here are some big dishes, Mapo Tofu and Kongpao Chicken, which take more than triple of the time of making a burger.
When talking about the food I like best, my mind comes to a dish without hesitation. My grandmother often cooked the dish for me when I was in China. I missed my grandmother and her particular dish so much since I have left home for almost half a year. The great dish is called ‘Qing Jiao Chao Rou Si’ in Chinese. It actually means green pepper with meat. There is a picture above which is so attractive to me. When I was still in China, I used to go home once a week because I lived in dorms of my high school. And every time I went home, I told my grandmother that I missed her cook and I would like to have ‘Qing Jiao Chao Rou Si’ as a dish of dinner. I would say that she could cook lots of dishes even better than that in any restaurants. Sometimes, I could not finish the white rice (white rice is the main food in China) because I did not like the dishes. Of course, most of the conditions happened in the dining hall of my high school. My parents often told me to eat more and finish all the rice in the bowl. But if there is a ‘Qing Jiao Chao Rou Si’ on the table I can eat two bowls of rice immediately! I love it so much. I recommend it to everyone.
